KRAFTON Permanently Bans Himass and TanVuu: The Sanction-Consistency Debate Inside PUBG Esports

KRAFTON's disciplinary notice for two Vietnamese PUBG professionals, Himass and TanVuu, carried no line explaining the scope of its application. That scope is precisely what made the international community erupt. A permanent account lock plus a ban from every official PUBG tournament: a player walks into an ordinary match day and walks out of the professional system after a single decision. The Thai community was stunned. Most Korean fans coldly agreed. International forums asked a different question altogether: is KRAFTON applying its rules consistently?

The case is tied to PUBG Asia Stars 2026, an event the community describes as friendly and entertainment-oriented. That description anchors almost the entire backlash. If a friendly tournament is enough to generate a maximum-tier sanction, where exactly is the line between an official competition and a showcase? That rumour has not been confirmed by the team or by KRAFTON, and it should be treated for what it is: unverified information with outsized consequences if it turns out to be true.

The biggest risk to PUBG Esports is not two individuals. It is trust in how the publisher holds the scales. When one organisation writes the rules, judges the cases and also holds commercial stakes, its legitimacy depends entirely on the community's sense of fairness. That sense cannot be built with a notice. It is built by publishing the enforcement standard and comparing equivalent cases objectively.

Listening before commenting is how I corrected my own mistakes. In a case this hot, listening means separating what has been confirmed from what is being rumoured. For now, the confirmed part consists of a maximum-severity sanction and an evidence-gathering process. The rest remains blank space.

An ecosystem mature enough to produce players recognised internationally also needs to be mature enough to state clearly why it removes them. Every player's name is a short poem, if we bother to read it closely, and a good poem should not end with an unannotated full stop.
